New Delhi. Thanks to the determined efforts of the Indian Embassy in Libya, 18 Indian nationals who were stranded in Benghazi have successfully returned to India. They had been stuck in Libya for weeks due to security concerns.

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Ranadhir Jaiswal confirmed this development on social media, stating that the embassy had worked closely with Libyan authorities to ensure the safe return of these citizens. The embassy provided them with necessary travel documents and authorization to facilitate their journey.

These Indian citizens had initially been promised better employment opportunities, but they soon found themselves in distressing circumstances. The Ministry of External Affairs assured that the situation was closely monitored, and the embassy worked to ensure a smooth repatriation process. It is noteworthy that three individuals from this group had already returned to India in October.

Expressing gratitude towards Libyan authorities for their swift response and cooperation, Jaiswal said, "We are grateful for the support and cooperation of Libyan authorities. The Government of India remains committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all Indian citizens abroad."
