Grand Conclusion of Maha Kumbh: Devotees Flock to Shiva Temples on Maha Shivratri

Prayagraj. Prayagraj witnessed a grand conclusion of Maha Kumbh 2025 on the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri, as millions of devotees participated in the final holy dip at the sacred Triveni Sangam. After performing the ritual bath, devotees thronged various Shiva temples across the city to offer prayers and perform the holy ‘Jalabhishek’ ritual to Lord Shiva.

The ancient temples of Prayagraj, particularly those situated near the Kumbh Mela grounds, became the focal point for Shiva worship. Pilgrims from different regions eagerly visited these temples to seek divine blessings, creating a deeply spiritual atmosphere. To ensure a smooth and secure pilgrimage, authorities deployed extensive security arrangements in and around the temples.

Massive Turnout at Prominent Shiva Temples
As the city echoed with devotional chants, devotees gathered in large numbers at iconic Shiva temples. From the early hours of the day, temples such as the Siddha Peeth Mankameshwar near Saraswati Ghat, the revered Brahmeshwar Mahadev Temple in Daraganj, and the Koteshwar Mahadev Temple in Shivkuti saw an overwhelming influx of devotees. These historical shrines, mentioned in ancient texts, held special significance for pilgrims, drawing worshippers throughout the day.

After taking a sacred bath in the Ganges and Yamuna, devotees also visited the revered Someshwar Mahadev Temple near Arail. The entire city was immersed in the devotion of Lord Shiva, marking the occasion with prayers, bhajans, and temple rituals.

Enhanced Security Measures for Devotee Safety
With an estimated three crore devotees visiting Maha Kumbh for the final day’s ritual bath, authorities took stringent security measures to ensure a safe and smooth flow of pilgrims. Heavy police deployment, along with paramilitary forces, was arranged at all major temples and ghats to manage the large crowds.

Devotees expressed their gratitude for the well-organized arrangements that allowed them to perform their religious rites peacefully. As the sun set on Maha Kumbh 2025, pilgrims began their journey back, carrying the divine blessings of Lord Shiva with them.
