More than 15,000 sanitation workers and 2,500 Ganga Seva Doots are ensuring cleanliness at Mahakumbh 2025. Special efforts were made for Basant Panchami’s Amrit Snan.

Mahakumbh Nagar: On the occasion of Basant Panchami’s third Amrit Snan, special cleanliness measures were implemented in the Mahakumbh Mela area. Under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, a commitment has been made to ensure a clean and safe Mahakumbh, which is visibly evident in the arrangements.
To facilitate hassle-free holy dips for devotees, 44 ghats have been constructed across the Mahakumbh area. The vast 4,200-hectare Mela grounds are being maintained by 15,000 sanitation workers and over 2,500 Ganga Seva Doots, who work tirelessly day and night.
Special Cleanliness Drive on Basant Panchami
The Mela Authority ensured continuous cleaning of all ghats, preparing them for devotees.
The routes taken by Akharas for the Amrit Snan were cleaned overnight to ensure smooth movement.
The Quick Response Team (QRT) was actively engaged in cleaning any waste immediately.
Main roads and Akhara pathways were not only cleaned but also sprinkled with water for dust control.
Boats and steamers were deployed to keep the Ganga and Sangam waters clean.
Awareness by Ganga Seva Doots
Many devotees leave their clothes and belongings on the ghats after taking a dip, creating inconvenience for others. To tackle this, Ganga Seva Doots actively educated devotees, urging them not to litter the ghats.
Additionally, a special campaign against open defecation is being run by the Mela Authority. Sanitation workers, Ganga Seva Doots, and officials are encouraging people to use public toilets. For convenience, 1.5 lakh toilets have been set up across the Mela area.
Special Facilities for Sanitation Workers
The Yogi government has provided several facilities for sanitation workers ensuring a dignified working environment.
Workers like Sunil from Banda and Sonu from Fatehpur, deployed in Sector-24, are being provided with accommodation, ration, clean drinking water, medical facilities, and schooling for their children.
According to Sonu, sanitation workers are being treated with great respect and honor, making this Mahakumbh truly remarkable.
With such rigorous cleanliness efforts, devotees are experiencing a cleaner and more organized Mahakumbh 2025, receiving widespread appreciation from visitors.
