Major Statement by Amit Shah : Time to Move Beyond Distorted History
Amit Shah emphasized the need to break free from distorted history and recognize India’s rich cultural heritage.
Lucknow: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah stressed that it is time to rewrite India's history from an Indian perspective. He made this statement during the launch of the book "Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh: A Historical Chronicle of Continuity and Connectivity". Shah asserted that the Modi government has been committed to reviving Kashmir’s cultural legacy over the past 10 years.
Amit Shah said, "India has been portrayed inaccurately for decades. Historians viewed it merely through a geopolitical lens, whereas India is a cultural nation." He highlighted that from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and Gujarat to Bengal, India’s diversity was ignored, and the country was reduced to a political entity.
He explained that the book, based on ancient texts dating back thousands of years, proves that Kashmir has always been an integral part of India. It highlights the region's cultural, linguistic, and spiritual heritage that has existed for millennia.
Historic Move: Abrogation of Article 370
Amit Shah described the abrogation of Article 370 as a historic reform in Indian history. He criticized the Congress and its allies for attempting to create a narrative that Jammu & Kashmir was separate from India for decades. However, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the removal of Article 370 gave India a new direction.
Shah noted that the Modi government has promoted local languages like Kashmiri, Ladakhi, Balti, and Dogri as official administrative languages, thereby preserving and promoting regional culture.
He also said it is now time to move beyond the history written to appease rulers. "Our history must be written with confidence, backed by evidence, and rooted in India’s ancient culture. Today, India is governed by its ideas and values."
Amit Shah’s leadership has brought significant changes in Jammu & Kashmir. The region is now on a path of development, contributing to the vision of a New India.
