New Delhi : India has launched a $1 million Community Resilience Strengthening Project in Dominica’s Kalinago region. This initiative, under the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) partnership, aims to bolster sustainability in agriculture, climate change adaptation, and tourism, providing long-term support to the community.

The launch of the project is a testament to India's continued commitment to the Global South. The second phase of the project was inaugurated by India’s High Commissioner to Trinidad and Tobago, Dr. Pradeep Rajpurohit, marking a significant step towards the empowerment of the Kalinago people. The first phase of the project had already been completed.

Dr. Rajpurohit emphasized that India has played a leading role in bringing the priorities of the Global South to the global stage. The project represents India’s desire to offer sustained support to Dominica and contribute to the long-term development of the Kalinago community.

In a statement, Limya Eltayeb, UNDP's Resident Representative for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, expressed gratitude to the Indian government for its continued assistance to Dominica and other nations in the Global South. She highlighted that India has established itself as a vital resource for smaller, developing nations through the UN-India Fund.
